Hypothalamic Obesity

What is hypothalamic obesity?

Hypothalamic obesity is a rare condition caused by injury to the hypothalamus, a part of the brain that controls many things, including how we feel after we eat. When the hypothalamus gets injured—possibly from a tumor or surgery to remove a tumor—the brain has trouble communicating with the stomach and releasing feelings of fullness. An injured hypothalamus can also cause low energy levels and decreased physical activity.

The goal of the Horizon-HO study is to find out if the study drug may help participants have a healthier body weight.
